Battered repeatedly by hurricanes, people living on Mississippi’s Gulf Coast exemplify resilience. Life in Bay St Louis still centers on the water, but most fishing boats have been replaced by pleasure craft and the thriving oyster and fishing industries have relocated elsewhere. Today Bay St. Louis is a lively tourist destination. Colorful new construction and trendy venues have replaced historic structures washed away by Hurricane Katrina, and before that Hurricane Camille.
